Wilma Rachel Moore

September 28, 1929 — February 1, 2010

Wilma Rachel Moore, 80, of Port Neches went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 1, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Noble, La. to Earlean and William Webb. She graduated from Noble High School and then married her high school sweetheart Sylvester Moore, her husband of 52 years. They then moved to Groves where they raised their family. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Groves. In days gone by she was a homemaker, an interpreter for the deaf, a member of the Sanctuary choir and the Sonshine Choir at First Baptist. She was also a Past Worthy Matron of the Groves Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid reader and a lifelong student of the Bible. She enjoyed traveling, being with her family and friends, and attending the many activities and sports of her grandchildren. She was their number one fan. Her sweet gentle spirit was a blessing to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brother, Troy Webb and wife, Helen of Noble, La.; her daughter, Carolyn Joffrion of Groves; sons, Sylvester Moore, Jr. of Nederland, Larry Moore and wife, Maribeth of Conroe, and Charles Moore and wife, DeeDee of Port Neches. Her grandchildren, Kelly Verret and husband, Clint, Susan Moore, Brandy Moore, Patricia Hanbel, Matthew Moore, Ashley Moore, Brittnee Moore and Madison Moore;her great-grandchildren, Kristen Verret, Jillian Verret, Samuel Verret, Allie Poore and Abby Garner; and her great-great grandson, Jude Verret also survive her. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Birdwell and his staff at Texas Oncology in Beaumont. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 5p.m.-8p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Services will be Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Groves with Dr. Joe Worley and Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park Port Neches. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Groves Sonshine Choir or the library fund.
