William W. “Billy” Werner, Jr., passed peacefully away on June 15, 2026, in Groves, Texas. Born on July 10, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas, he graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School, Class of 1960 and earned his Associate's Degree from Lamar University. A veteran of the US Navy, Billy served as a Process Operator at Jefferson Chemical/Huntsman for over 30 years. Billy was a faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception/St. Peter Catholic Church in Groves, where he was a member of the Men’s ACTS group and the Knights of Columbus. Billy loved fishing and hunting at his camp at Sam Rayburn Lake. He celebrated 65 years of marriage with his wife, Linda. Together, they raised four children: son William “Butch” Werner, III, and his wife Leslie; daughters Elaina Sims and her husband Glenn, and Lori Wills and her husband Dan; and son Mitchell Mark Werner. Billy was a proud grandfather to Alexis Priess (Courtney), Ariel Scroggs (Fallon), Jodie Harris (Ryan), Rebecca Walters, Amanda Sims, Trevor Sims (Cassie), Stratton Wills, Garrett Wills, Parker Wills, Mitch Werner, Jr., and Nicholas Werner. He also leaves behind his siblings James “Jimmy” Werner (Charlyn), John Werner (Eulene), Barbara Williams (Skeets), Darrell Werner, and Lisa Cloteaux (Randy).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Williams Wallace Werner, Sr. and Mary Evelyn Werner, whose influence shaped the principles and character that Billy lived by.

Funeral services will be held to honor Billy’s life and legacy. Visitation will take place on June 21, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home , 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas. A Mass will be celebrated on June 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception/St. Peter Catholic Church, followed by a graveside service at 11:15 a.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. The family wishes the thank Harbor Hospice of Beaumont Texas and Ashtyn Cox for their compassionate care and support during Billy's final days.

Though he has departed from this world, the memories created will remain a treasured legacy to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
