Voile Joseph Willis, Sr.

Voile J. Willis Sr. went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2026 in Schulenburg, Texas at the home of son, Voile J. Willis, Jr.

V.J. was born, May 9, 1927 in Merryville, Louisiana, hi parents were Olian Louis and Angeline (Johnson) Willis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cecelia (Monceaux) Willis, brothers and sisters, C.D. Archie, Elbert, Ernest, Arlene, Pierce, Hayward, and W.J. His sons Ernest Lee and John Bradley Willis.

He and Cecelia were married on July 5, 1947 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. They moved to Groves, Texas when he was employed by Texaco Refinery where he worked for 42 years.

V.J. belonged to The Order the Eagles, and of the OCAW #13-423 in Port Arthur, Texas.

He also was a member of several bowling leagues where he became acquainted with several lifelong friends. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church

V.J. had the following children, Voile Jr., who married Carylon, Anita Teel who married -Bill, James who married Melodie, Brad who preceded him in death, and Ernest Lee who also preceded him in death.

V.J. was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Kenneth, Toby, Michelle, Vanessa, Lisa Rene, Bryan, Jeffory, Sharon, Rhonda, Jackie, Ameryjane, and Malachi. He also had 22 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren.

Pall bears are Justin Willis, Jeff Willis, Toby Willis, Bryan Willis, Slade Stout and Skylar Stout.

Honorary Pall bears are all his grandsons, great grandsons and great-great grandsons.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves at 10 A.M. Graveside services will be at 3 P.M. at the Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan, Louisiana.
