"Buddy" Duplechain, Jr.

V.A. “Buddy” Duplechain, age 78, passed away on March 29, 2026, after a brief illness.

Buddy was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent over 50 years as a pipefitter, a career he took great pride in. He was also the co-owner of Gulf Coast Design, where his skill, commitment, and integrity left a lasting mark on all who worked with him.

Beyond his work, Buddy embraced life with enthusiasm and simple joys. He was a devoted fan of NASCAR and football, rarely missing a race or a game. He enjoyed relaxing with episodes of Jeopardy! and trying his luck at video poker. Above all, Buddy loved good food and good company—he was truly an “original foodie,” happiest when sharing meals and laughter with those he loved.

Buddy is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Pam Duplechain; his daughter, Buffie McBride; his grandchildren, Christian Champagne, Avery Champagne, and Zachary Champagne; his great-grandchildren, Lena Champagne, Ivy Champagne, Bishop Champagne, and Margot Champagne; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his only son, Jody Duplechain, and his sister, Brenda Duplechain.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Melancon/Livingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in celebrating a life well lived.

Buddy will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of life’s simple pleasures, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, warmth, and countless cherished memories. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
