It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Verless Travis Stewart, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas, at the age of 77. Born on January 15, 1948, in Orange, Texas, Travis led a life filled with joy, adventure, and a deep love for both family and friends.
Travis was a proud veteran who served in the National Guard. He carried the values of dedication and service into his career, retiring as an esteemed auto sales professional from Philpott Motors. His commitment to his work and his vibrant personality endeared him to many throughout his career.
A man of many interests, Travis was an enthusiastic sports fan, passionately supporting the Astros and Cowboys. His love for sports was matched by his thrilling hobbies, which included boat racing and drag racing. These pursuits reflected his fun-loving nature and zest for life, traits that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Travis was a devoted family man. He shared 25 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sylvia Stewart of Nederland. Together, they built a beautiful life surrounded by their children: son, Scott Stewart of Houston; daughter, Casey Fuller and her husband, Robert of Nederland; son, Billy Schroeder and his wife, Nicole of Beaumont; daughter, Mandy Kibodeaux of Port Arthur; and son, Eddie Wilson of Bridge City. His legacy of love continues through his grandchildren: Aron Johnson and her husband, Josh, Sammy Schroeder and his wife, Jessica, Chris Moyers, Chloe Schroeder, Blakly Wilson, Kayla Fuller, and Luke Fuller, along with his great-grandchildren, Owen, Ella, Mason, Noah, and Maddox. He leaves behind his loving sisters, Sherry Wells of Georgetown and Kim Stafford and her husband, Danny of Nederland, as well as, in-laws, Evelyn Griffin, Joe Hughes and his wife, Theresa, Hank Hughes and his wife, Mary Jane, and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Travis is preceded in death by his parents, Travis Stewart, Sr. and Emilee Stewart; his brother, Jimmy Stewart; and his cherished dog, Moe, who he affectionately considered his "son."
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Travis's life. A visitation will be held on November 15, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, 77627.
Travis's joyful spirit and abiding love for those around him will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He may have departed from this world, but his legacy will live on in the beautiful memories shared with family and friends.
