Travis Farris, a proud US Navy veteran of World War II and cherished member of the “Greatest Generation,” graduated to heaven on January 26, 2026, at the age of one hundred years. Born to parents Milas and Lucille Farris on June 21, 1925, he attended school in Timpson, Texas, enlisted in the US Navy, and later retired from Texaco in Port Neches. Throughout his lifetime, Travis upheld strong values of hard work, sacrifice, and patriotism.
Before his beloved wife, Peggy, passed away after 69 years together, they enjoyed working in their yard, PNG sports, and golfing vacations and Navy reunions all over the country. They also loved dancing at the Pompano Club on Saturday nights for over 40 years.
Travis is survived by his son, Glenn Farris, and wife Brenda, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. His daughter, Joanne, predeceased him along with Peggy. The family is so grateful for the comfort and loving care provided to Travis most recently by the staff of the Community Retirement Home, and especially Larry and Pam. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, at 9 a.m., and a remembrance service will follow at 10 a.m. at Melancon-Livingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. Private burial will occur later. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to VFW 4820, P. O. Box 83, Port Neches, TX 77651, or your favorite charity.
