It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tony Dean Stafford, Sr., a beloved family man and dedicated Tug Boat Captain, who left this world on January 18, 2026, at the age of 72 in Beaumont, Texas. Born on July 25, 1953, in Port Arthur, Texas, Tony was a cornerstone of his family, deeply cherished and admired for his great love and devotion to them.
A proud Tug Boat Captain from 1988 to 2020, Tony's passion for the water was matched only by his commitment to his loved ones. He enjoyed a fulfilling career that brought him immense joy, and he often shared memories of those days at sea, recounting tales of his adventures. He retired on July 15, 2020, and during his years of service, he left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
Tony’s personality was characterized by a warm and inviting spirit; he loved spending time with his family, instilling in them a sense of love and togetherness. His fondest wish was for his family to know just how much he loved them, a sentiment he expressed warmly and often.
He is survived by his daughter, Toby Tabor and her husband, Brian of Nederland; his son, Tony Stafford, Jr. of Houston; his daughter, Kayla Stafford and Dillon Tomlin of Groves; and his four legged daughter, Lolli. Tony also leaves behind his devoted companion, Sharon Trahan, along with his cherished grandchildren, Brycen, Brody, and Nathan Tabor. He is further survived by his sister, Kathy Durham, as well as his grand dog, Freyia Stafford, who will miss him dearly.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Tony Stafford and Bernell Adaway, and his sisters, Rose Meaux and Sharon Martin. Their memories and legacies continue to live on through Tony’s family, carrying forward the love they shared.
A visitation will take place on February 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service commencing at 2:00 PM, both held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas 77619.
Tony Dean Stafford's profound impact on those around him will not be forgotten. His legacy of love and dedication to family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
