“Elacasitas!” (iykyk) Tim Alton “Paw Paw” Porter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on May 13, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Tim lived a life rich in love, hard work, and family ties. He moved to Nacogdoches and became a dedicated farmer by profession, he cherished his roots in agriculture, retiring in 1996 after many faithful years on the farm. Tim was not only committed to his career, but he was also a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, upholding values of honor and dedication that he carried throughout his life. Known affectionately as “Paw Paw”, he was very loving, dependable, funny, and a man of his word, traits that endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His personality shone especially bright during moments spent with his family, where his laughter and warmth created lasting memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Janet Porter of Port Arthur, his son, Kevin Porter and his wife, Joley of Newton; his daughters, Kim Renfro of Houston, and Shelly Porter Klima and Jimmy Landrum of Port Neches; and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Porter of Hemphill. Tim is also survived by his eleven cherished grandchildren; and his eleven great-grandchildren who were a source of boundless joy in his life. Continuing his legacy are nephews and nieces; and one sister-in-law, Janice Till of Beaumont.
Tim was preceded by his parents, Marion and Veta Grace Porter; his son, Darren Porter; his daughter, Kelli Tauber; his sister, Velma Jenkinson; his brother Alton Porter; and his niece Julie Molanaire.
Despite the deep sense of loss felt by his family, they take comfort in the cherished memories they created together, including his love for singing, giving kisses on the top your head, fishing and his fondness for Cinnamon Toast.
A visitation and memorial service will be held in honor of Tim “Paw Paw” Porter on July 12, 2025, at The Neches Room Event Venue, 246 Crockett St, Beaumont, Texas 77701. The visitation will commence at 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
Tim’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved and admired him, as they remember a man who gave so much to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
