Tom "Pops" Thul, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 20, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on June 27, 1953, in Michigan City, Indiana, where his journey began. Tom dedicated himself to a long and fruitful career as a First Class Machinist for 50 years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.
From an early age, Tom was known for his keen sense of humor, bringing laughter to those around him with his sharp wit and endearing personality. As a loving and compassionate individual, he was the best friend to his wife, Gay Thul, with whom he shared a cherished partnership over 39 years in Groves. Their bond was a testament to the love and support they provided each other throughout their lives.
Tom was a proud father to three children: Thomas Thul, who, along with his wife Patricia, resides in Bridge City; Gracie Thul of Groves; and Aaron Thul and his wife, Monica of Kountze. He took immense pride in his role as a father, giving the best Daddy hugs and being a devoted listener to each of his children. Tom's warmth and love extended further with the spirited presence of his grandchildren: Brian Thul, Jude LeBlanc, Brody Thul, and Jenna Thul, who held a special place in his heart.
His passions were varied and colorful—Tom had an unyielding love for Rock and Roll music, enjoyed racing, cheering for his ride or die Pittsburgh Steelers, and found joy in shopping on Amazon. A keen competitor, he also played pool and was a member of a local pool league, where his camaraderie with friends flourished. He was a man that could fix anything except a Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
Tom's legacy is one of kindness and compassion, leaving behind his siblings: Eric Thul and his wife Denise; Lisa Jenkins and her husband Ted; Patty Thul; and Joanne Kaegebein and her husband Todd, who will forever remember him as a loving brother.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Thul and Ethel McLalin, whose lives shaped him into the remarkable man he became. Tom "Pops" Thul will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will remain etched in the hearts of his family and friends.
