Susan Gail Whitmire, 63, of Nederland, Texas passed away on October 23, 2013 at her home. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on December 1949 to the late William Olan and Lela May Dockens Whitmire.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Donald Bean officiating.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

I was 15 y/o when Susan was born; she was a gift for Uncle Bud and Aunt Lela. Susan attended Nederland ISD; after graduating, she attended Lamar University in Beaumont, graduating in Education, obtaining her Teacher's degree. Susan taught for many years in the Beaumont School District; touching many students lives; She was an avid reader, loving history, the Bible, and The arts of English litature.. I am happy to say she was a part of our heritage, the Dockens family; Susan I will miss your phone calls, letters, and gifts you sent my grandchildren; I am thankful you are in the hands of God, where there will be no more suffering, pain, or worries; Pat Samford Burns and family
