Sue E. Allen, a devoted Christian and beloved, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her residence in Nederland, Texas on February 2, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1932, in Troup, Texas to Coma I. (Adams) Fitzgerald and John S. Fitzgerald.
Sue graduated from Wharton High School and went on to have a successful career as a bookkeeper at Fidelity Investments. After years of hard work and dedication, she retired from her position and enjoyed the well-deserved fruits of her labor.
Sue was one of the first members to attend Ridgewood Baptist Church. A woman of unwavering faith, Sue was devout in her Christian beliefs. Her strong spirituality provided solace in times of hardship and guided her through life with grace. She supported the event Night to Shine which is a prom for those with special needs ages 14 and older.
Sue had a zest for life that radiated through her hobbies and interests. She cherished organizing various items - be it photo albums, her office, or even her children's lake house - with meticulous care and attention to detail. Sue was not one to spend all her time indoors. She embraced an active lifestyle and cherished spending time outdoors. Tending to her plants and solving jigsaw puzzles were among her favorite pastimes.
One of the greatest joys in Sue's life was traveling with her husband, Lloyd L. Allen. Together, they explored the world and created countless beautiful memories before Lloyd's passing. Sue's family meant the world to her, and she adored every moment spent with them. Sue's warm spirit lives on through those she leaves behind.
Sue will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warm presence and infectious smile brightened the lives of those around her. Her kindness and compassion touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Coma I. (Adams) Fitzgerald; father, John S. Fitzgerald; husband, Lloyd L. Allen; daughter, Carol Aucoin; brothers, Malcolm Fitzgerald, Johnny Fitzgerald, and Harold Fitzgerald; sisters, Shorty Jackson and Sybil Peteete.
She is survived by her loving son, David Allen of Bronson, Texas; loving daughter, Patti Haynes and husband David of Nederland, Texas; grandchildren, Brent Allen and wife Crystal of Houston, Texas; Ashlyn Dover and husband Scott of Fate, Texas; Charity Allen and fiancé Joe Dupuis of Nederland Texas; Aubrey Allen and wife Jolea of Arlington, Texas; Garrett Haynes of Conroe, Texas; Holly Babin and husband Jeremy of San Antonio, Texas; Kayla Lough and husband Troy of Fannett, Texas; Lindsey Granger of Beaumont, Texas; and Jamie Scott and husband James of Fannett, Texas. She is also survived by her adored great-grandchildren, Colt Babin, Holden Babin, Brynn Babin, Mila Allen, Jackson Dover, Audrey Scott, Olivia Scott, Ashton Granger, Bentley Dupuis, and one expecting great granddaughter, Penelope Dupuis arriving in June. In addition to her cherished family members, Sue leaves behind her beloved fur baby Rocky aka "The Baby", who brought immense joy to her life.
Sue's family invites friends and loved ones to join them in remembering her life at Ridgewood Church, 2920 Lake Arthur Dr., Port Arthur, Texas. A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Sue's Life to begin at, 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Sue E. Allen was a remarkable woman whose faith in God guided every aspect of her life. Her legacy will live on through the cherished memories she leaves behind with all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. May she rest in eternal peace.
