Sonya Caraway

Sonya Caraway, 75, of Winnie, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Sonya was born on February 16, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Jesse Lee Cating and Verma Jean West.

Sonya was a lifelong resident of the Winnie area where she graduated High School and attended the Chenier Business School. Sonya enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, collecting lighthouses and listening to Elvis Presley. Some of Sonya’s favorite things to do was to go shopping and go eat at restaurants. She absolutely loved spending time with her family, cooking and watching crime shows on TV. Sonya was a loving mother “mawmaw” and “grandma” and she will be truly missed by all her loving family and friends.

Those left behind to cherish Sonya’s memory are her daughter, Kimberly Caraway Woodard and her husband, Tony Woodard; her son, Greg Caraway and his wife, Shelley Caraway; her grandchildren, Kristi Harris, Kyle Caraway, Aric Ard, Jesse Caraway, Kelsy Woodard, Ian Woodard, Kaycee Caraway, Stephen Woodard; her great grandchildren, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Harris, Scarlet Harris, Sophia Caraway; and her half-brother, Rocky Cating. Sonya is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Earl Caraway.

A graveside service for Sonya will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
