Sharon Lynn Rode Schleiffer, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated healthcare professional, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on July 11, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, Sharon lived a life rich in love, service, and commitment to others.
Sharon embarked on her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, where her compassionate nature shone through in every interaction. Her dedication to nursing not only exemplified her professionalism but also her genuine desire to care for those in need.
A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1967, Sharon went on to earn her Degree in Registered Nursing. Her educational background laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to healthcare and the well-being of her patients.
In addition to her nursing career, Sharon was a passionate individual who enjoyed time spent working on her family ranch. She had a love for racoons including having one as a pet and was known as an expert shopper. Sharon was also active in her community, participating in the Mardi Gras festivities with the Krewe of Aurora, Krewe of La Bon Temp and Krewe of Neptune, where she embraced the joy and camaraderie of the occasion. She was also a member of the Golden Triangle Sertoma Club.
Sharon was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur until its closure and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Groves, demonstrating her unwavering faith and commitment to her spiritual community.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard A. Schleiffer, Sr. of Groves; her children, Troy Scott Camp and wife, Kelli; Beverly Schleiffer Reynal and husband, John; Anne M. Schleiffer; Richard A. Schleiffer, Jr. and wife, Phyllis; and Christopher M. Schleiffer. Sharon also cherished her role as a grandmother to Katherine Reynal, Caroline Reynal, Madalynn Camp, and Bennett Camp.
In her family, she is remembered fondly by her brothers, Ronnie Rode and wife, Maureen; and Glen Rode, as well as her nieces and nephews: Erica Schleiffer, Kristine Mosdol and husband, Gunnar; Harald Hans-Eric Schleiffer and wife, Eva; Jennifer Rode, Amanda Rode Pennartz and husband, Mike; and Darren Rode and wife, Christina; along with many great nieces and great nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Freida Rode, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable woman she became.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sharon's life during the visitation on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, 77627. A Celebration of Sharon's Life will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m., Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas, 77619.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Breakthrough T1D.
