Sandra Lee Mitchell

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Sandra “Sandy” Reeves Mitchell, 70, of Nederland, Texas. Surrounded by her loved ones, Sandy passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Harbor Hospice in Houston following a brief battle with cancer.

Sandy was born on December 24, 1952, Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. She was the beloved daughter of William Omer Reeves and Doris Louis Reeves. She was generous to a fault and will be fondly remembered for her unparalleled sense of humor and an immense love for family. Sandy dedicated many years of her life to serving her community as a Records Specialist for the Evansville, Indiana police department and a 911 Dispatcher with the Houston Police Department. Her commitment to public service touched the lives of countless individuals in need. In addition to her professional work, Sandy also volunteered at CASA, advocating for the welfare of children in the foster care system. She had a true gift for working with children.

Sandy's faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active member of 7th Street Baptist Church in Nederland. Her kind and nurturing spirit made a difference in the lives of the youngest members of the congregation where she worked in the church nursery.

In her absence, Sandy leaves behind a void that can never be filled. But as we grieve the loss of this extraordinary woman, let us also remember the immense joy she brought into our lives. Let us honor her memory by embracing the simplest of pleasures, finding humor in the darkest of days, and cherishing our families with the same unwavering love that she did.  As we bid farewell with heavy hearts, we mourn Sandy's passing and find solace in treasured memories and the legacy she left behind. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jerry Reeves.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeremy Wallace and wife Heather of Katy, TX; and Eric Sanders of West Virginia, daughter Amy Sanders of Houston, TX; twelve grandchildren: Kyler, Kiyaan, Kamry, Kiviahna, Eric, Daniel, Matthew, Mari, Braden, Brianna, Abby, and Anna; ten great-grandchildren: Skye, Cayden, Oakleigh, Oliver, Atlas, Echo, Iniko, Ezra, Santiago and Kingston; brother David Reeves and two sisters Linda and Ryan Reeves; her Aunt Virginia (Ginny).
