Sally Anne Baker Smith, 71, of Port Neches, Texas passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 8, 1954, in Madison, Tennessee.
A proud 1973 graduate of Nederland High School, Sally was a gifted athlete, excelling in softball, volleyball, tennis, and track. Sally was a talented seamstress, known for crafting imaginative Halloween costumes for her children and shirts for her beloved husband. Her compassionate spirit extended to the neighborhood children, for whom she always cared. She was characterized by her quick wit, strong will, and a wonderful sense of humor. Even after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Sally's determination shone through; she never allowed it to hinder her passion for sewing or even mowing the lawn. She held the unique distinction of being the only grandmother to be affectionately called "Bubba." Sally was a devoted member of First Methodist Church in Groves.
Sally is survived by her beloved mother, Margaret Marlin Baker; her loving husband of 49 years, Dwayne Smith of Port Neches; her daughters, Leslie Broussard and husband, Patrick; Lauren Knight and husband, David; and son, Bradley Smith. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Smith and wife, Tatjana; Camryn Smith-Lukenbill, and Kirke Knight. Further surviving her are her brother, Danny Baker; sister, Patty Harris and husband, David; nephew, Jacob Harris and wife, Ashlee; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Baker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Baker; brother, Benny Baker; grandson, Thomas Knight; and father and mother-in-law, Kirke and Dolores Smith.
Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to honor Sally’s life during visitation hours on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, located at 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619. A funeral service will take place the following day, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., also at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home – Groves. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
Sally Anne Baker Smith’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves a lasting imprint of love, gentleness, and steadfast compassion. Her presence and spirit will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
