Russell Mitchell Melancon, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 76, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on July 17, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, Russell led a life marked by dedication, love, and a passion for the great outdoors. He was a cherished and respected Industrial Safety Professional, whose commitment to ensuring the safety of others was evident throughout his career.

Russell proudly served in Vietnam as a Marine Corps Corporal, he carried the values of honor and service throughout his life. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Groves, where he forged many meaningful relationships and contributed to his community.

Russell's love for life extended beyond his profession; he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. His adventurous spirit was often matched by his love for music and dance. He delighted in twirling his beloved wife, Gloria Melancon, on the dance floor, demonstrating both grace and joy in every step. For fifty glorious years, Russell and Gloria shared a deep and abiding love that left a lasting impact on all who knew them.

As a father, Russell was devoted to his children, coaching them in various sports, including baseball, football, and softball. His unwavering support and encouragement inspired them to pursue their passions wholeheartedly, and his influence will forever be felt through their achievements.

He leaves behind his loving family, including his son, George "Mickey" Melancon (Cindy Wright), daughter, Jodi Norris (Jerry), and son, Jeffrey Melancon (Tiffany). He was a proud Paw Paw to fifteen grandchildren and a delighted Great Paw Paw to twenty great-grandchildren, fostering warmth and joy across generations. Russell is also survived by his sisters, Diane Huebel (Gerald), Pam Williams (Daryl), Sharon Wiley and Laurie Jo Wiley, who will carry fond memories of their brother's loving spirit.

Russell joins his beloved wife, Gloria, who preceded him in death as well as his parents, Everett L. Wiley and Audrey M. Wiley, and his brother, Steven Wiley, in eternal rest.

Visitation for Russell Mitchell Melancon, Jr. will take place on February 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A Funeral Service will follow on February 3, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM, in the same location and a graveside service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas following the service.
