Royce Frances McGuire, 81, of Hemphill, Texas passed away in Port Neches, Texas peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 1, 1944, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, kindness, and quiet strength.

Royce grew up in Seminole, Texas, where some of her most treasured memories were made. She often shared stories about her childhood, her cousins, and especially her beloved grandmother also known as Mama Kate and grandfather also known as Papaw. To all the Webb Family you were so deeply loved by her. The memories she carried of them stayed close to her heart throughout her entire life, and she lovingly passed those stories down to her own family. She had a beautiful way of keeping family memories alive, making those she loved feel present no matter how much time had passed.

She retired from Lamar University after many dedicated years of work. A devoted Christian, Royce lived her faith not only in words, but in the gentleness, patience, and sincerity she showed to everyone around her.

Family was the center of Royce’s world. She was the loving wife of Tommy Ross McGuire and a devoted mother to Jon McGuire, Susan McGuire Owens, and Melynda Brown. She also deeply loved her sons-in-law, Keith Bailey, Don Brown, and Mike Owens, each of whom became cherished parts of her family and life.

She was also an adoring grandmother to Lindsey Braquet, and Ashli Stutes and a great grandmother to Zander Brown, Chase Bailey, Chase Owen Braquet, Izzy Stutes, and Miller Kate Stutes each of whom brought her endless joy and pride.

Royce shared an especially deep and meaningful bond with Lindsey her granddaughter, Lindsey was extraordinarily special to her, and Royce never missed a single event, milestone, or important moment in her life. She poured endless love, encouragement, and guidance into Lindsey, helping mold her into the woman she is today. In so many ways, looking at Lindsey was like seeing a mirror image of Royce herself, carrying forward her kindness, strength, sincerity, and deep love for family. Then in 2019 Royce received another blessing, Kera Braquet, who is Lindsey’s wife who became a favorite in Royce’s life. Chase Braquet is their son and Royce’s Great Grandson.

Royce also shared a very special bond with her son-in-law, Don Brown, the faithful and devoted husband of her daughter, Melynda. Their relationship was built on deep love, respect, and appreciation for one another. Royce loved Don dearly, and the entire family feels incredibly blessed and grateful for the unwavering love, loyalty, and strength he has always shown their family.

Royce never missed an event in her children’s lives while they were growing up. Whether big or small, important or ordinary, she was always there. Her family knew they could count on her steady love, support, and encouragement through every season of life.

She loved gathering everyone together, especially during the holidays, when her home became the heart of the family. Her cooking, warmth, and welcoming spirit created memories her family will hold onto forever.

Royce also spent cherished years in Hemphill, Texas, where she dedicated her time to helping others through her church, the garden club, and activities involving local school children. Serving others came naturally to her because loving people was simply who she was.

Those who knew Royce will remember her as patient, sincere, gentle, and incredibly kind. Her family says without hesitation, they never met anyone who did not adore her. She carried herself with a quiet strength and grace that made people feel safe, loved, and valued. Her beauty radiated far beyond appearance it was present in the way she treated people every single day.

To her family, Royce was truly an angel on earth. She taught them what it means to love hard, care deeply, and show up faithfully for the people you love. Though their hearts are broken, they are forever grateful for the gift of having been loved by her.

Royce will be remembered with a visitation will be held on May 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. A graveside service will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

Mrs. Royce never came to Fairdale Baptist Church Bible study without a delicious fresh salad with homemade ranch to go with it! What a sweet, hospitable lady! Sending condolences to the family 💛
