Rose "Ann" Catalina Skelton, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, in Groves, Texas, at the age of 84. Born on March 16, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas,
Ann's vibrant spirit touched the lives of many who knew her.Ann dedicated over thirty years of her professional life to Stoneburner Verret Electric Company, serving with dedication and commitment. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959, she carried the values of hard work and integrity throughout her career. Ann loved spending time with her family and friends.
She cherished special times with her daughter, Cheryl . She delighted in taking trips with her late husband, Robert "Bob" Skelton. They took trips to many places but especially loved visits to Reno and Lake Tahoe. They created memories that would last a lifetime. Ann also had a fondness for trips to the casino with her happiest moments being when she returned home a winner!
A parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Ann cherished her faith and the community it fostered. She looked forward to attending Saturday Mass followed by dinners and leisurely conversations with her cherished lady friends. She also delighted in the occasional card playing games with her close friends. Ann's Italian heritage shown through in her enjoyment of cooking and baking, often sharing her creations and excitement for new recipes. She also took pride in her yard, plants and tending to her orange trees, generously gifting the fruit to those around her.
Ann also made a mark through her volunteer work. She dedicated many years to voluteering at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas and engaged in helping at church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Weaver and her husband, Brent; her grandchildren, Kade Weaver and his wife, Lyndsey, and Karlee Richards and her husband, Dylan; and her great-grandchildren, Whitley Weaver, Colsen Weaver, Scarlett Richards, and Sullivan Richards. Two brothers, Jack Catalina and his wife, Belinda, and Frank Catalina and his wife, Kathy, who also mourn her loss.Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and "Mae" Catalina, and her husband, Robert "Bob" Skelton.
Visitation will be held on August 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, 77627. A graveside service and interment will follow the service at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, Texas.
Ann's memory will reside forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind many memories that will forever leave a mark.
Our family would like to extend a tremendous heartfelt thanks to Penny Lee, who was such a blessing to us and the Forever Young Assisted Living caregivers who treated mom with so much kindness,compassion, and love throughout her time there. We also want to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, especially, Tasha Broom, RN for the care and comfort she provided mom for so long. Many thanks to Renesha "Ree" Carter as well for her daily care. We are grateful for the constant support and care they all provided to mom and to us. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
