Ronald G. Matise, 89, of Groves, Texas, passed away on April 19, 2024, at Bonne Vie in Port Arthur, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, at Immaculate Conception – St. Peter the Apostle Parish Church in Groves, Texas on April 24, 2024. Officiating will be Father J. C. Coon. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on April 23, 2024, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home Chapel in Groves, Texas. A rosary will be at 6:30 pm in the Chapel.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on February 28, 1935, he was the son of Peter “Pete” Thomas Matise and Irene Hebert Matise.
Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Groves, Texas. He worked as an accountant and was employed with C.A Turner, which he retired from after more than 30 years of service. Ronnie was a dedicated father, coaching little league and teaching his sons sports. His faith was evident in his daily life, and he served his church as an usher as well as being a member of the Immaculate Conception - St. Peter the Apostle Parish Council. One of the greatest joys in his life was his daily visits to Dairy Queen in Groves, where he went for his diet coke. He looked forward to visiting with his Dairy Queen family and friends every day. Many special memories were made and he was a blessing to everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Betty Matise, and his brother, David Matise.
He is survived by his daughters, Therese Foy (Randy) of Lumberton and Leslie Allen of Groves, and his sons, James Matise (Carla) of Nederland and Richard Matise (Robin) of Houston. He has 11 grandchildren, Brittany Matise, Meagan Matise, Cory Matise (Michaela), Nicole Pitts (Jacob), Lauren Crenshaw, Ryan Matise (Natalie), Leslie Puckett (Hunter), Jamie Matise, Alexus Allen, Cameron Allen, and Kailey Foy and 3 great-grandchildren, Lane Pitts, Ambri Ogden, and Lillian Puckett.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Foy, Cory Matise, Ryan Matise, Cameron Allen, Jacob Pitts, and Sebastian Wagner.
Ronnie will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
