It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Glenn Johnson, affectionately known to many as Glenn, who departed this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on October 17, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, Glenn was a dedicated public servant, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy will continue to resonate within the community he so passionately served.
Glenn’s remarkable career spanned over two decades during which he served as the Mayor of the City of Port Neches for 23 years. His leadership was characterized by a profound commitment to the betterment of his community, where he also participated as a member of the City Council. Beyond local governance, Glenn held numerous esteemed positions, including Chairman of the National Corvette Museum beginning in 2021 and Chairman of the Original Tugboat Island in 1994. His service extended into the financial sector as he chaired at Five Point Credit Union since 1988 and dedicated his time to the St. Mary Hospital Foundation as its chairman, leaving a lasting impact in various areas of community life.
A proud veteran, Glenn served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his courage and commitment to his country. His strong sense of duty carried through to his personal life, where he was a beloved member of the Port Neches-Groves Masonic Lodge #1163. His personality, marked by kindness and generosity, endeared him to countless individuals, and he was known for his unwavering support for the causes he believed in.
Glenn is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea Johnson, of Port Neches. He raised two sons, Michael Johnson and his wife, Lori, and Jarrett Johnson and his wife, Amberly. Glenn's legacy continues through his stepsons, Jason Landry and his wife, Cindy, and Shawn Landry, along with his adoring grandchildren: Chase, Allie, Noah, Christian, Kayla, Jordan, Brynn, Spencer, and Jacob. The circle of love further expands with the joyful presence of his great-grandchildren, Knox, Knightley, Krue, Avery, Austin, Fynn, Cameron and Tatum.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frank and Redith Johnson, who undoubtedly instilled in him the values of hard work, dedication, and compassion that he exemplified throughout his life.
Visitation and funeral services for Glenn will be held at the First Baptist Church in Port Neches, located at 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches, Texas. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on October 19, 2025, with visitation starting at 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:30 PM. A graveside service will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park where Military Honors will be given.
Glenn’s contributions to this world were profound, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to honor his memory, we aspire to carry forward the spirit of kindness and service that defined his extraordinary life.
