Robert Lee Horn, Jr., 78, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2026. He was born on January 4, 1948, in Beaumont, Texas, to Robert Lee Horn, Sr. and Myrtle Horn.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before beginning a 37-year career as a welder with ExxonMobil. He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering character, and deep wisdom. Though never one to seek the spotlight, his actions spoke louder than words, and those who knew him respected him for his steady presence, thoughtful advice, and calm demeanor.
On April 24, 1970, Robert married the love of his life, Concetta “Chetta” Josephine Orlando. Together they shared 54 years of marriage, building a home centered on love, faith, hard work, and family until her passing in August 2024. Their enduring devotion to one another was an example to all who knew them.
He found joy in the simple things in life. Whether he was hunting, fishing, walking the beach in search of treasures, metal detecting, capturing nature through his camera lens, or talking with friends over his HAM radio, Robert appreciated the outdoors and the peace it brought him.
More than any hobby or accomplishment, Robert was devoted to his family. They were his greatest source of pride and the legacy he cherished most. He loved them deeply, often showing that love not through grand gestures but through his dependability, quiet encouragement, and the example he set every day.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Concetta “Chetta” Josephine Horn; his parents, Robert Lee Horn, Sr. and Myrtle Horn; son in law, James Durso, and his grandson, Easton Horn.
He is survived by his children, Robby Horn and wife Rita, of Milam, Sheri Anders and husband Adam, of Port Neches, Lori Durso, of Nederland, and Rene McHatton, of Nederland; his sister, Martha Palmer, of Beaumont. He was the beloved grandfather to Morgan LaCaze and husband Jake, Mason Anders, Nolan Anders, Aiden Anders, Hannah Durso, Derek Durso, Slade Durso, Kolton Horn, Treyce Altman, Gracey McHatton, and Irelyn Horn. He was also blessed with 3 great-grandchildren; Eli Horn, Emma Horn, and Eleanor LaCaze.
Robert's life was defined not by the number of words he spoke, but by the strength of his character, the wisdom he shared, and the love he had for his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend whose quiet example will continue to guide those who knew and loved him.
His family finds comfort in knowing that he is reunited with the love of his life after nearly two years apart. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will be honoring Robert with a visitation to be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur, Texas with interment following at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
