Robert Lee (Bob) Harmon, 79, of Port Neches, Texas entered into eternal life Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his home on Toledo Bend Lake in Hemphill, Texas. Bob was born May 3, 1930 to parents, Alys ad Howard Dale Harmon. He was raised in Nitro, West Virginia. He began work for Texas US Chemical at age 19 in Borger, Texas and transferred to the Port Neches facility, where he retired after 30 years of service, with his wife, Sue Painter Harmon. Bob and Sue celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary July 8, 2009. A member of Port Neches Masonic Lodge #1163 and the First United Methodist Church of Port Neches, Bob Harmon was actively involved in his community. He was a scoutmaster, president and director of the Port Neches Pony Colt League, member of the Lion's Club, and numerous organizations involving his children. He loved spending time with his friends and family. His kids and grandkids were his "heart". Hunting with his sons and grandsons was something he looked forward to every Fall and was always "in town" for PNG Friday night football. The youngest of four children, he is preceded in death by his sister, Crystal Harmon White, his parents, Alys and HD Harmon, and his son (in-law), Donald James Murphy. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; his children, Dale Harmon and wife, Susie, of Port Neches, TX; Craig Harmon and wife, Sharon, of Spurger, TX; and Jill Harmon Murphy-Wills and husband, John, of Port Neches, TX. His grandchildren are JimBob and Brooke Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Sarah Murphy, all of Port Neches, TX; Corey Harmon of Tomball, TX; Caleb Harmon of Port Neches, TX; Jasun and Jennifer Harmon of Cibolo, TX; and Cindy and Buck Shoemaker of Spurger, TX. His great grandchildren are, Hagen, Grady and Jackson. He is also survived by his brothers, Howard Harmon and wife, Betty, of St. Louis, MO; and Kenneth Harmon of Keyser, West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, was an inspiration to all who knew him. He is known as a "man's man".... "someone to be looked up to and admired" "a man who made all feel better just to have known him". Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Rev. Peter J. Cammarano, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the funeral home.
