Don Miskimon, a revered coach and teacher at Vidor Independent School District, passed away on March 8,2026, in Groves,, at the age of 85. Born on June 30, 1940, in Williamsburg, Kansas, Don dedicated his life to shaping young minds and fostering athletic prowess within his community. His unwavering commitment to education and coaching has left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
Throughout his career, Don was known not only for his tactical knowledge of sports but also for his ability to inspire and motivate his students and athletes. He stood as a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, embodying the values of family and mentorship. His warmth, kindness, and dedication were evident in interactions with all who had the privilege to know him.
Don is survived by his several beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wallace Miskimon to whom he was married until she passed in 2019, his stepson, Craig Lee Sanford, whose memory will also be honored alongside Don's remarkable legacy. The family and friends of Don Miskimon mourn his passing yet celebrate the profound influence he had during his lifetime. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those he touched.
