Richard C. Garvin, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Christus St. Mary Hospital. Richard was born May 1, 1919 in Gunnege, Honduras to James and Mccollie Blanch Garvin. He was a resident of Port Arthur for 25 years and member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a retired Merchant Marine and Chief Engineer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Pastor Jose Munoz officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his son, Myers Garvin. Survivors include his three sons, Millet Garvin of New Orleans, LA, Ricardo Garvin of Columbia, Hector Garvin of Miami, Fl; one daughter, Elena Garvin of Miami, FL; granddaughter, Wanda Garvin of Munich, Germany; also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Eldon Bodden, Nelson Bodden, Ellery Moore, Luis Merren, Mike Jones and James Swain.
