A Life Remembered
Obituary
Priscilla “Prissy” Truett Irvine, a cherished presence in every room she entered and the beloved matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in Spring, Texas. Born on February 28, 1945, in Port Arthur, she lived a life defined by devotion, quiet strength, and a warmth that made people feel instantly at home.
Prissy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and studied Secretarial Science and bookkeeping at Port Arthur College. After college, she built a career as a trusted bookkeeper for several local businesses. She approached her work with the same care and precision she brought to every part of her life, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Her world, however, stretched far beyond her career. For more than fifty years, Prissy was a proud and faithful member of The Temple in Port Arthur, where she found community, purpose, and lifelong friendships. She embraced life with enthusiasm—traveling, dancing, and filling her home with music. Prissy was an avid traveler who explored destinations across the country and around the world, collecting experiences, stories, and memories she treasured deeply. Whether discovering new places or returning to familiar favorites, she delighted in the adventure of it all.
In her younger years, she loved camping and fishing, adventures that reflected her appreciation for nature and simple joys. As a member of the Red Hats Group, she cultivated camaraderie and friendship, enriching her social circles with laughter and grace.
Prissy was known for her remarkable memory, often described as being “like a sponge.” She remembered every detail, every story, every person, and every road traveled. It was one of the many ways she made others feel seen and valued.
Family was the heart of everything Prissy did. She was the devoted wife of 57 years to Ted Irvine of Port Arthur, their partnership a steady and loving constant. She is survived by her children, Timothy Irvine and his wife Alejandra of Spring, and Mary McFaden and her husband Casey of Houston. Her grandchildren – Gabriel, Isabel, and Christian Irvine, along with Fiona McFaden – were her pride and joy, each one carrying forward a piece of her spirit.
Throughout her illness, Prissy carried herself with grace and a steadfast spirit, never once surrendering her hope or her resolve. Even in the hardest moments, she met each day with a brave and unyielding heart, a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Truett; her mother, Marguerite Haston Truett-Phalen; her brother, Loron Ernest Truett; and her sister-in-law, Geraldine Irvine. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
