Pennie Stewart, a devoted homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on April 29, 1967, in Munich, Germany, Pennie’s life was marked by a steadfast love for her family, her faith, and the simple joys that enriched her days.
Throughout her 58 years, Pennie was best known for her unfailing dedication to her family. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Stewart, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage in their home in Port Neches. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family that meant the world to her. Pennie was a proud mother to her daughter Elizabeth Stewart and daughter-in-law Lauren Washburn of San Francisco, California; as well as her sons Scott Stewart and Mary of Conroe, Texas, and Stephen Stewart and Lauren Rogers of Humble, Texas. Her love extended naturally to her cherished grandchild, Jameson Stewart. Family gatherings were filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting presence of Pennie's culinary talents, for she took great pride in cooking and delighting her loved ones with everyone's favorite dishes.
Pennie's commitment to her family was matched by her deep spiritual devotion. An ardent student of her Bible and a dedicated member of The Temple, she found peace and purpose in her faith, seeking always to live in accordance with its teachings. Her kindness and grace extended beyond her immediate circle, as she welcomed all with a warmth that made every visitor feel comfortable and valued.
Her memories are adorned with simple pleasures—her love of flowers brightened her home, and the serene beauty of the beach was a place of reflection and joy. Pennie also possessed an insatiable curiosity and enjoyed reading and traveling, pursuits that broadened her understanding and appreciation of the world around her.
Pennie's roots reached back to her birthplace in Munich, Germany, and her memory is intertwined with those who preceded her in death, including her revered parents, William and Tessie Burg, and her sisters Sharon Orange and Karen Beatty. She is survived by her dear sister Rebecca Deluca and her husband Nick of Mantua, New Jersey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who carry forward her loving spirit.
In all her roles—as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful member of her church—Pennie Stewart exemplified a life of loving devotion, quiet strength, and heartfelt generosity. Her legacy endures in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, and her presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Pennie's life will be held with family and friends who honor her memory and carry forth her enduring example of love and faithfulness. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM with a Celebration Service at 4:00 PM. Location is The Temple, located at 4101 TX-73, Port Arthur, TX 77642.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Association, The Temple, or MD Anderson.
