Peggy Luquette, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted community member, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, in Nederland, Texas. Born on October 25, 1954, in New Iberia, Louisiana, Peggy’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family and the joy she found in nurturing those around her.
A self-employed entrepreneur, Peggy dedicated many years to operating Peggy's Child Care, where she fostered a warm and caring environment for countless children. Her passion for cooking was well known among family and friends, often delighting those around her with her culinary talents. Above all, Peggy took immense pride in her role as a matriarch, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Peggy’s family meant the world to her. She is survived by her loving spouse, Joseph Luquette of Nederland, Texas; her devoted children, Eric Harrington and his wife Ashley of Nederland, Texas, and Dana Weiland and her husband John of Evadale, Texas. Peggy’s legacy lives on through her treasured grandchildren: Kyler Harrington, Badyn Weiland, Avery Harrington, Jepson Weiland, Jenson Weiland, Echo Weiland, and JJ Weiland. She also leaves behind her brothers, Karl Guidry, Glen Guidry, and Brad Guidry, who remember her with great affection.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is mourned alongside her late brother Haywood “Boo” Guidry, sister Barbara Guidry, and nephew Jonathon Guidry.
Family, faith, and fellowship were the pillars of Peggy's life. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. The Rosary will be recited beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by visitation at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Peggy Luquette’s indelible spirit, marked by warmth, kindness, and an enduring love for her family, will be deeply missed yet forever cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. Her memory remains a guiding light, inspiring those who follow in her footsteps to live life with love and grace.
