Otis Vaughn Block

Otis Vaughn Block, 86, of Port Neches quietly passed away April 21, 2009 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur with his family by his side. He was born August 13, 1922 in Port Neches to the late Alton and Emma Block. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 4820. Otis was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches.He was the loving husband of 62 years of Stella Block of Port Neches devoted father of Vaughn Block and wife, Rebecca of Port Neches, Carolyn Lane and husband, Paul of Mauriceville, and Brenda Acord and husband, Joe of Port Neches brother of Harmon Block and wife, Laverne of Port Neches, Nora Weeks and husband, Alfred of Port Neches, Bernice Hinson of Nederland, Helen Dews of Port Neches stepbrother of Sue Melacon, Judy Screen, Vickie Craver, and Toni Whitman cherished grandfather of Jeff Lane and wife Patty, Kevin Lane and wife Melissa, Julie Lumpkin, Jodi Reeves and husband Brett, Corey Block and wife Maranda, Chris Block and wife Randi and Chase Block and 12 greatgrandchildren.A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, April 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.Funeral services will be Thursday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Port Neches, Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
