d. September 4, 2025

Lumberton, Texas

Noreen Maxwell Horton Freeman, born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 15, 1934, gently departed this life on September 4, 2025. She spent her final moments peacefully at her residence, leaving behind a legacy that will ever remain cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

Noreen led a rich and fulfilling life, marked by her dedication to family, her career, and her community. While living at Crystal Beach, she was a proud member of Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church in Crystal Beach, Texas and then after moving to Lumberton she began attending St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church as she could. She lived her faith with unwavering commitment. Noreen was not only a devoted parishioner but also a beautiful embodiment of hospitality and love, delighting in cooking and creating welcoming environments for family gatherings and celebrations. Known for her meticulous nature, she loved to ensure everything was always in its rightful place, which made her the heart of any occasion.

Educationally, Noreen was a proud member of the Cheer Leading Squad and Homecoming Court at French High School, a testament to her vibrant personality and grace. A spirited cheerleader, she carried this enthusiasm into her adult life through her unwavering support of LSU Tiger sports, the Houston Astros, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Her professional journey took her to a prominent law firm, where she retired, having made a significant impact throughout her career. Noreen's work ethic was matched only by the love and attention she lavished on her family.

Noreen was introduced to love and companionship when she married Belton Ford "Scooter" Freeman Jr. With him, she shared 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. She is reunited with beloved relatives who have departed, including her son, Kirk Freeman; her daughter, Kelly Freeman; her granddaughter Britney Morrison, her sisters, Vivian Horton-Watts and Margie Tierney; and her devoted husband, all of whom have left their indelible mark on her life.

Noreen's warm spirit lives on through her surviving family, which includes, her grandson, Brandon Corley and wife Sarah of Conroe, Texas; her niece, Leslie Watts-Welch and husband Terry of Beaumont, Texas; her nephew, George Watts and fiancée Katie O'Donovan of Sour Lake, Texas; her great-nephew, Kolson Maxwell Watts; her great-niece, Makenzie Alyse Watts, along with her adored great-grandchildren: Blakely Corley of Conroe, Texas and Hunter, Tucker, and Tyler Morrison of Lumberton, Texas, and grandson in law: Justin Morrison.

All her family would also like to thank the many Angels who helped so selfishly care for and always were available for Nana/Auntie/Noreen: Mrs. Debra, Mrs. Tina, Mrs. Sheila, Mrs. Shemia, Mrs. Andi, Mrs. Lindsey, Ms. Brooke, and Ms. Ellie.
