Neoma Lee Linares, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away on October 19, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. Born on July 1, 1945, in Altus, Oklahoma, Neoma was a beacon of love and kindness, leaving behind a legacy rich in family values and faith.
Neoma was a proud graduate of Southside High School in Elmer, Oklahoma, where she excelled in basketball and went on to cherish the many memories she created with family and friends.
Neoma's life was characterized by her profound love for her family and her commitment to her beliefs. She cherished her roles within her family unit and was a cherished presence at the center of family gatherings. Neoma was known for her generous spirit; she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her friendly and outgoing nature allowed her to connect with people from all walks of life, as she never met a stranger.
An active member of Providence Church, Neoma devoted her time and energy to various organizations, embodying the principles of service and community. Her proudest accomplishments were not measured by material success but through her unwavering dedication to her family and her faith. Neoma enjoyed watching the local high school games and enthusiastically NCAA college basketball tournaments, reflecting her passion for sports.
Neoma is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eddie Linares of Port Neches; her son, Larry Linares and his wife, Laura of Houston; grandchildren, Lindsay Mena and her husband, Matt; Brandon Linares, Andrea Linares, and Nicole Linares; great-grandchildren, Kayden Mena and Kamdyn Mena. She is also survived by her sisters, Nelda Linares and her husband, Henry; Cathy Baker; and her brother, Kenneth Helton and his wife, Jo.
Neoma was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Norma Jean Helton; her son, Kerry Todd Linares; and her brother-in-law, Ken Baker.
A visitation will be held on October 26, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the funeral service to begin at 12:30 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 2001 Nall St, Port Neches, Texas. Neoma’s final resting place will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
