Mr. Connie Gene Lackey, a cherished son, devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on November 15 1931, in Port Arthur, Texas, Connie was a man of great integrity and an embodiment of faith and family values.
Connie dedicated a significant portion of his career to serving as a Commercial Inspector for Ron Arceneaux, alongside his time spent working for Fluor in the United Arab Emirates during the 1980s. His professional life was marked by unwavering commitment and diligence, a reflection of his lifelong ambition to support his family. He also proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan and Guam, nurturing a deep-rooted sense of patriotism that remained with him throughout his life.
A man of faith, Connie grew up in the Nazarene Church and actively participated in the First Christian Church of Port Arthur. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and decisions. He was well-known as a big supporter of his family, always making time for his children and grandchildren. Connie's pride in his family was reflected in every aspect of his life, and he derived immense joy from their accomplishments and happiness.
He leaves his second wife, Peggy Ann Lackey. Connie is also survived by four sons: Tommy Lackey and his wife, Christi of Strawn, Texas; John Lackey and his wife, Debbie of Call, Texas; and Larry Lackey and his wife, Joyce of Jasper, Texas: Lucas Lackey and his wife, Niki of Callicoon, New York. His daughter, Laura Lackey of Katy, Texas, along with eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, also survive him. He is remembered fondly by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Additionally, he is survived by his brothers: Quincy Lackey of Groves, Texas, and Raymond Lackey and his wife, Ellen of Mauriceville, Texas, as well as his sisters: Nina Stark of Nederland, Texas, and Betty Lackey of Port Arthur, Texas.
Connie was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Thomas Lackey and Flora Harris Lackey, his cherished wife of 29 years and the mother of his children, Anita Ruth Brown Lackey, as well as his three brothers and one sister.
A visitation will be held in his honor on March 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas.
Mr. Connie Gene Lackey's legacy will endure through the love he shared, the values he instilled, and the memories cherished by those whom he left behind. May he rest in peace.
