Milton D. Fontenot, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Nederland, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on September 12, 1933, in Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, Milton carved out a remarkable life marked by hard work and a deep love for his family.
A graduate of Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, Milton dedicated many years to his profession as a Mechanic and Electrical Instrumentation specialist at Dupont, from which he retired in 1992. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Fontenot's Refrigeration in Nederland, as well as a rental business, where his reliable character was a testament to his work ethic. Milton was a proud veteran of the Army, serving his country with honor.
Milton was known for his loving nature and the unwavering support he offered to those around him. He could always be counted on and took immense joy in helping people whenever he was able. He cherished the time spent traveling and fishing, hobbies that brought him great fulfillment and provided meaningful memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Carol Fontenot of Nederland; son, Arlin Sterling, and his wife, Sadie, also of Nederland; grandchildren, David Fontenot and his wife, Amber, Brandi Fontenot, Phillip Sterling, and Keith Sterling; as well as great-grandchildren, Jack Fontenot, Jocelynn Fontenot, Charlene Fontenot, Allena Fontenot, Aden Fontenot, Abigail Fontenot, Kristina Sterling, Phillip Sterling, Jr. and Marcus Sterling. His legacy will live on through his family, who will forever hold dear the many values he instilled in them throughout his life.
Milton was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Johnny and Annie Fontenot; brothers, Ernest Fontenot and Jimmy Fontenot; son, Michael Fontenot, and grandson, Roy Fontenot. Each of these individuals remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Services honoring his life will be held on July 2, 2025. Visitation will take place at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, 77627. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial gardens in Bridge City.
Milton D. Fontenot's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and service. He will be missed profoundly by all who had the privilege to know him.
