      Mary Frances Sheffield, 94, of Port Neches, Texas joined her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Mary was born on October 14, 1929, in Zavalla, Texas.

      Mary's passion for life shone through in many aspects. She excelled in sports during her youth and found joy in playing volleyball while in high school. Mary's vibrant personality was highlighted by her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her beloved family.

      Throughout her life, Mary took great pleasure in watching hummingbirds, playing softball, traveling stateside and overseas, and camping with her loved ones well into her 80s. Her proudest accomplishments included being an active member of Central Baptist Church in Port Neches since 1959, where she diligently maintained Sunday School records, participated in various church activities, and lent her voice to the choir.

      Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Platt) Burges and Joseph Robert Telford, brothers Levert Telford, Milton Telford, and J.R Telford; and her loving spouse of fifty plus years James “Buster” Clayton Sheffield. She is survived by her children Michael Gale Sheffield and his wife Cathy of Port Neches and Lew Clayton Sheffield and his wife Liz of Nederland.

     Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: David Sheffield and wife Shelly, Paul Sheffield and wife Taylor, John Sheffield and wife Jennifer, Natalie Price and husband Tommy, and Valerie Richardson. Mary's legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren: Garrison Sheffield, Isis Petersell, Wynter Reed, Aslan Sheffield, Tyler Richardson, Lorelai Sheffield, Cheyanne LeBlanc, Pierce Sheffield, and Josie Mae Sheffield. Additionally, Mary is survived by Great-Great Grandchild: Quinn Long and one on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews.

      A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Mary's Life to begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Garden of Memories Memorial Park located at 5205 South 1st St., Lufkin, Texas 75901. 

      Serving as pallbearers for Mary include David Sheffield, Paul Sheffield, John Sheffield, Garrison Sheffield, Aslan Sheffield, and Tyler Richardson.

      She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
