Mary Louise “Lou” Hebert (July 10, 1943 - October 26, 2023) peacefully passed into heaven surrounded by her adoring husband, children, and grandchildren, while listening to many beautiful hymns. She passed away at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Cypress, Texas, due to a respiratory illness.
Lou was born to Orelia and Sybil Joseph Rodrigue in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a devout Catholic she has been a member of: St. Mary’s, St. James, St. Peter’s, Immaculate Conception, and St. Maximillian Kolbe churches over the span of her life. Lou is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis “Bubba” Hebert; her five children: son, Dwayne Hebert and his wife Ginie; daughter, Renee Sipole and her husband, Scott; daughter, Laurie Lofton and her husband, Darren; son, Joey Hebert and his wife, Shelly; and daughter, Julie Varing and her husband Donnie.
She was known as “MiMi” by her eight grandchildren: granddaughter, Laci Lindsey and her husband, Jon; granddaughter, Cherise Garcia and her husband, Azael; granddaughter, Valerie Zouzalik and her husband, Zach; grandson, Alex Hebert and his wife, Audrey; granddaughter, Hailey Doty and her husband, Brennan; granddaughter, Tori Varing; grandson, Tyler Hebert and his fiancé, Azure Gomez; granddaughter, Jillian Hebert and her boyfriend, Jeremy Key. Mimi is also survived by her seven great grandchildren: Lofton, Renee, Ace, Rowan, Preston, Luke and Lucy
She is survived by her sister, Pat Tomlin and preceded in death by her two sisters, Bobbie Jo Nolan and Betty Duhon and her two brothers, Marvin and Carroll Rodrigue.
Love at first sight, Lou married Bubba at 15 years old and gave birth to five children by the time she was 23 years old. Over the years, they enjoyed many a Mardi Gras celebration together with life-long friends and family. They were an unstoppable force and loved by everyone they met. Her heart was a giving soul. She was, without a doubt, the definition of a true matriarch of the family. Lou and Bubba have been the foundation of something truly special that will, hopefully, be passed on for generations to come.
The family would like to thank everyone at the senior living facility, Village on the Park Steeplechase, Houston, TX. Our heartfelt gratitude to all who took care of her and loved her and Bubba these past four years. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to everyone at Memorial Hermann Hospital-Cypress, TX, who cared for her and helped guide us through Lou’s care and transition. Dr. Abdulla, your kind and caring bedside manner was truly appreciated during this difficult time. Thank you all for the compassion shown.
A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas for a “Celebration of Life” to honor Lou. Mass will then be held at the Immaculate Conception and interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
