It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marianne Bolton Cotten, who departed this life on July 7, 2026, in Groves, Texas. Born on December 31, 1955, Marianne's greatest joy in life was undoubtedly her beloved grandbabies, who were truly her world. Her warm spirit, infectious smile and loving nature touched all who knew her. Marianne was known for her wonderful bubbly and funny personality, and she loved to laugh, bringing joy to every gathering. Marianne was raised in Winnie, Texas, and graduated from East Chambers High School in 1975. She married her soul mate Randy and moved to Nederland, TX in 1983. She was a dedicated employee of Vallen for 35 years. In her high school years, she was an accomplished musician and singer. She excelled in band, playing multiple instruments and was even appointed to the Texas All-State Women's Concert band. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and as a soloist. One of her most beloved accolades of that time was being voted Most Beautiful her Senior year of high school. She loved to fish and made many of her favorite memories out on the water. She had a passion for shopping, with a particular fondness for jewelry and purses. In her quieter moments, she found great pleasure in reading books and working her puzzle books. Marianne always presented herself beautifully, ensuring she was dressed and made-up before leaving the house, a testament to her vibrant spirit.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Randy Cotten, her children, Linda Vidrine and her husband Troy, and Meagan Baker and her husband James. Marianne was a cherished grandmother to Christian Middleton and his wife Amber, Matthew Weaver Jr, Dylan Vidrine, and Addilyn Baker, and a proud great-grandmother to Cody Middleton. She is also survived by her sister Doris Bassett and her husband Jamie, her sisters-in-law Roxane Dougherty and her husband Tim, Rhonda Rountree, Sheryl Sills and her husband Steve, Cyndi Worsham and her husband Billy, and her brother in law Larry Mick Jr and his wife Teressa, as well as her nieces Ansley Dougherty, McKenna Dougherty, Kristin Bassett, nephew Matthew Walls, great-niece Katie Bassett, and great-nephew Frankie Bassett.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lily Mae Bolton, her twin sister, Diane Bolton, mother-in-law Joyce Mick, and father-in-law Larry Mick Sr. A visitation will be held on July 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas.
