Lyndon Wiley Childress

March 7, 1957 — November 14, 2023

Nederland, Texas

Lyndon “Little One” Childress, 66, a lifelong resident Nederland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his residence in Nederland, Texas.

Lyndon was born on March 7, 1957, in Port Arthur, Texas exactly 9 minutes after his twin brother, Glyndon “Big One”, a bond that was never to be broken.  He was the son of William B. and Helen Marie Childress.  Little One was very proud of his thirty-four-year accomplishment with the Nederland Alcohol Anonymous Association, where he not only had successfully overcome his own struggles but never let a member down when they needed help with their struggles.  Little One had a heart of gold and was dedicated to the service of others.  He was a charter member of Mardi Gras in Southeast Texas since 1993 a non-profit organization where he volunteered many hours managing a gate.  He made many friends through the years at Mardi Gras Southeast Texas and was a great asset to those he volunteered with.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and son: Aaron Bentley Childress.

He is survived by his three brothers and one sister, Stephen B. Childress of Nederland, TX; Larry Childress of Port Arthur, TX; Glyndon Childress and his wife Laura of Orange, TX; Julie Lucas and her husband Tim of San Antonio, TX; as well as several nieces and nephews: Meghan Childress Richter, Lenzi Childress Belcher, husband -Lamar Belcher; Kailey Childress Conway, husband Robert Conway; Candace Childress, Garrett Lucas, wife Alyssa Lucas; Shannen Lucas. Great nephews, Trevor Kimbell, Wyatt Belcher, Grayson Richter, Waylon Sauls, Wilson Jones Lucas; Great nieces, Scarlett Sauls, Daisy Sauls. He was blessed as he never met a stranger and made many friends throughout his adventurous life.

A special thanks to family member Tracy Carroll, who became his trusted and protective caregiver until the end, Intrepid Home Health and Hospice Care Services, Jamie, Mary and his nurses the “M’s” Mindy, Melissa, Mackenzie.  Regardless of how you became acquainted, his spirit and twinkle in his eyes warmed your heart and will forever be missed and never duplicated.

A gathering of Family and Friends for the “Celebration of Life” memorial service honoring the Life and memory of Lyndon “Little One” Childress will take place from 1:00 p.m.– 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023 at James Hall Event Center, 343 N. Twin City Hwy, Nederland, TX.
