Port Arthur, Texas

Luther John Trahan, a cherished husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and respected community member, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on July 16, 1945, in Hayes, Louisiana, Luther graced the lives of many throughout his 80 years.

A proud veteran, Luther honorably served in the U.S. Navy, embodying the values of duty and service to his country. After returning from his military service, he began a long and fulfilling career as a Supervisor for the City of Port Arthur Water Department, dedicating 32 years to his role before his retirement. His work was marked not only by professional commitment but also by a unique ability to connect with people, a trait that made him an esteemed figure in every gathering.

Luther was a man of many talents, celebrated as an extraordinary cook and known for his great sense of humor. His delightful meals brought joy to family and friends alike, and his laughter echoed through every corner of family gatherings. A devoted member of the Catholic faith, he cherished these gatherings, always participating with gusto. Luther's devotion to his family was evident in every moment spent with them; he was a constant presence at his children and grandchildren's sporting events and found immense joy in fishing trips with his son and nephews.

Luther’s love extended generously to his wife of 54 years, Patricia M. Trahan, who stood by his side as a steadfast partner. Together, they nurtured a loving home filled with warmth and joy. Luther is survived by his son, Mark Joseph Trahan of Nederland, and daughters, Kristi Diaz of Nederland, Lisa Broussard of Port Acres, and Julie Siau and her husband, Bryan of Newton. He reveled in the company of his grandchildren, Alexander Diaz and his wife, Samantha, Konnor Broussard, Kirsten Casteel and her husband, Austin, Braydon Broussard, Madison Diaz, Keeley Siau Spivey and her fiancé, Chandler, Blade Siau, and Drake Trahan, creating countless cherished memories that will live on in their hearts. Luther also had the joy of great-grandchildren, including Kasyn Diaz, Korvyn Diaz, Edward Diaz, Ivy Creel, and Sage Broussard; his sister, Rosella Guilbeaux, along with a host of loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other extended family who will miss his guiding presence and heartfelt affection.

Luther now joins his beloved parents, Andrew Jackson Trahan and Amatile Harrington Trahan; his granddaughter Emma Trahan; daughter-in-law, Cherie Trahan; and his brothers, Kilbert, Alex, Raymond, and Roland Trahan; as well as sisters, Euphamie Gaspard, Maudry Graffagnino, Audrey Van DeDoes, and Martha Boudreaux, all of whom predeceased him.

In celebrating Luther John Trahan’s life, we remember a true family man, whose legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will forever resonate in the lives he touched. He leaves behind an indelible imprint in the hearts of all who knew him, a lasting testament to a life well-lived.
