Lilly B. Martin, 90, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at her residence in Nederland with her loving family at her side.
Lilly was born on March 15, 1933, in China, Texas to Louisiana Higginbotham Bruce and Gabriel Bruce. She was a retired proof operator at various banks in the area for over forty years and retired from Nederland State Bank. Lilly was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland and participated in many church activities. She was a woman of faith and prayed the Rosary religiously. Lilly enjoyed cooking, especially her famous “Gumbo” that her family and friends could not get enough of. She loved going on road trips to Lake Charles and play Boureé with her children and family members; she even taught her grandchildren how to play. Lilly was a timid woman but had spunk. She loved the Lord and prayed often because of her strong Faith in God.
Survivors include her children, Mark Martin and his wife Robin of Nederland, John Martin and his wife Betty of Orange, Joe Martin and his companion Angela of Beaumont, Theresa Battaglia and her husband Toby of Nederland and Michelle Mitchell and her husband Allan of Nederland; daughter-in-laws, Gayla Martin of Pasadena, Texas and Damara Goff Paris of Oregon; grandchildren, Kali Martin, Ian Martin, Kortney Tanner and husband Nic, Kirstey Fraychineaud and her husband David, Jonas Martin, Taylor Martin and her companion Gabby Pea, Joe Martin II and his wife Joanna, Brandy Voight and her husband Mason, Michael Mitchell, Jacy Harrison, Kala Williams and Dustin Harrison; great grandchildren, Trinity Tanner, Kipton Tanner, AnnMarie Voight, Mitchell Voight, Brayden Martin and one on the way; nephews, Joe Bruce II and Shane Bruce and his wife LaNan; great niece, Mandy Thompson Lowry; her son-in-Christ, Al Harrison and his wife Missy of Whiteoak, Texas.
Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Louisiana Bruce; her children, Tony Martin and Greg Martin; grandchildren, Hunter Martin and Caroline Martin and the love of her life, Henry L. Martin who passed away in 2003.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
Serving as Pallbearers will be NicTanner, Jonas Martin, Joe Martin II, Mason Voight, Michael Mitchell, David Fraychineaud, Ian Martin, Gabby Pea and Dustin Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kipton Tanner, Mitchell Voight and Brayden Martin.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Hospice Care team located at 2390 Easttex Freeway, Beaumont, TX 77703. The family would also like to thank the Hospice Care Team for taking such wonderful care of their, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and making her final days easier with their love and compassion.
