ibKathryn Elizabeth Thompson, 81, of Nederland, Texas passed away quietly on September 25, 2008 in Houston, Texas. She was born June 1, 1927 in Greenville, Arkansas to the late Cyrus Roy and Tressa Elizabeth Sherman Malone. Daughter of a Church ofChrist preacher, she lived in many towns in Oklahoma. She loved music which gaveher a great deal of comfort. Kathryn began playing piano at a very young age, whichshe played by ear without any formal lessons. Jazz and church music was herfavorite music to play. She played the baritone in high school and as a senior sheconducted the Oklahoma City Orchestra. She graduated from Central State Universityin Edmond, Oklahoma where she was secretary of her senior class. She taught inOklahoma for 2 years, then moved to Houston with her husband, where they lived for14 years raising their family. Her family moved to Nederland in 1967 where shetaught for 32 years in Nederland schools, including 30 years at Central MiddleSchool, teaching 7th and 8th grade English. She was loved by her family, manyfriends, and students. She was the loving mother of son, Michael Steven Thompsonand wife, Mary Lou of Kingwood, West Virginia and their sons, Michael, Steven, Jr.,and Jonathan Joshua son, Dr. Dudley Mark Thompson and wife, Connie of Spring, andtheir sons, Mark Aron, David Eric, and Bryan Patrick daughter, Teresa Kay Moss andhusband, Golden of Vidor, their daughters, Sarah Montana Moss and Heather ElizabethDarby and her children, Lauryn Elizabeth, Ashlyn Nicole, and Jason Ross Darby, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford D. Thompson parents sister,Edith Clay and brother, John Malone. A gathering of family and friends will be onSaturday, September 27 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, TX. Funeral serviceswill be held Sunday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Rev. DonCain officiating. Interment followed at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches,Texas.
