Kathy Meche, a devoted homemaker and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on October 19, 1956, in Port Arthur, Texas, Kathy—known affectionately to many simply as Kathy—led a life marked by dedication to her family, faith, and the simple joys that enriched every day.

Kathy’s lifelong passion for nurturing others was evident not only in her role as a homemaker but also in the love she poured into every special meal she prepared. Kathy loved cooking for her family and singing karaoke - people often said she sounded like Lorrie Morgan and Mary Chapin Carpenter. She also enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening and fishing, which brough her peace.

Above all, Kathy treasured the times spent surrounded by family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She found great joy and fulfillment in their presence, making each moment spent together a treasured memory. Kathy’s proudest accomplishment was her unwavering faith, having completely given her life to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, which was a source of strength and guidance throughout her days.

Kathy is survived by a devoted circle of family who will carry forward her legacy of love and faith. She leaves behind four children: her daughter Michelle Funk of Bridge City; sons Jimmy “Bubba” Orr and his wife Selena of Lumberton; Brad Bordelon and his wife Cat Shugar of Reading, Pennsylvania; and daughter Courtney Feldman along with her husband Dustin of Bridge City. Her spirit lives on in her cherished grandchildren—Krystin Funk, Kayleee Orr, Colton Orr, Kyler Orr, Kenshin Bordelon, Kaleb Bordelon, Kai Bordelon, Kacelynn Ellis, Mason McMurray, Acelyn Feldman, and Graceon Feldman—as well as her three great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable happiness.

Kathy’s siblings also honor her memory: her sister Brenda Toutcheque and husband Roy of Vinton, Louisiana; brother Keith Meche of Nederland; sister Mona Meche-Darbonne of Colorado; brother Greg Meche of Port Arthur; sister Missy Engel and husband Craig of Illinois; sister Dee Demarest and husband Mike of Longville, Louisiana; and sister Kim Meche-Chwascinski and husband Scott of Illinois. The love extended to numerous nieces and nephews, and not least to her cherished fur babies—Dallie, Bruno, and Jacey.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Bradley and Helena Meche, sister-in-law, Cathy Meche, and niece, Rebecca Darbonne, whose legacy she carried forward with grace and devotion.

The community and family will gather to remember and celebrate Kathy's life at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home,1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. Visitation will be held on April 23, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on April 24, 2026, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home starting at 10:00 AM, concluding with a Graveside service to be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Kathy Meche’s life was a testimony to love, faith, and family. Her memory will remain a guiding light for all who were privileged to know her—an enduring testament to a woman who embraced life’s blessings and shared them generously with those around her. May she rest in eternal peace.
