Kathleen Fontenot, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on April 19, 1956, in Port Arthur, Texas, Kathleen lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her commitment to family, community, and faith.
Kathleen had an extensive career, working as a laborer at Texaco, Inc., a truck driver for Midwestern Distribution, and a push boat dispatcher for Marine Fueling Service, Inc. in Port Arthur. She was respected in her field and known for her strong work ethic and dedication.
Her educational pursuits culminated in a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Lamar University, a testament to her intellect and diligence. Kathleen's love for learning extended beyond her formal education; she was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening in her leisure time.
A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Kathleen's faith played an integral role in her life. She found joy and solace in listening to acapella gospel music, which resonated deeply with her spirit.
Though Kathleen faced the profound sorrow of losing loved ones, including her husband, Webster James Bergeron, Jr., her parents, Bobby Laurentz Fontenot and Rose Ann Fontenot, and grandson, Gabriel Joseph Meineke, she remained a pillar of strength and love for her surviving family. She is deeply mourned by her sons, Webster James Bergeron III and Eric Wade Bergeron; her daughter, Dawn D. Meineke, and her husband, Eric; her brothers, Charles Edward Fontenot and Kenneth Wayne Fontenot; and her sisters, Patricia Ann Fontenot Cadroy and Diane Marie Fontenot Bernard, and her husband, Jeffrey. Kathleen's legacy endures through her beloved grandchildren: Destiny Renee Bergeron, Grace Elizabeth Bergeron, Brendan Wade Bergeron, and Keegan Joseph Meineke, whom she doted on and cherished, along with all of her nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral to begin at 2:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 5601 39th St., Groves, Texas 77619. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park located at 3900 Twin City Hwy.
As we remember Kathleen, we celebrate the light she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, generosity, and love will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
