Johnny Plagman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on November 25, 2025 in Port Neches, Texas. Johnny was born on June 11, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to Kenneth Lee Plagman and Mona Brookshire Plagman.
Johnny was a 1962 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas. After graduating high school, he entered the Army Reserves where he proudly served for 4 years. Johnny was the owner and operator of Johnny's Texaco and Towing Company for many years where he utilized his skills as a mechanic and instilled a strong work ethic into many of the local teenage boys that worked their first jobs for him. Although he was always soft spoken and patient with the sometimes unruly boys, when he spoke, they listened.
In his younger days you could find Johnny either fishing, playing baseball, or playing pool. In later years he enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Even bad weather could not keep him off the golf course where he hit his one hole in one on a rainy, sleet filled Sunday afternoon.
Johnny had great pride and love for his family. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Mary Nicotre Plagman, or as he always called her, "my lovely bride." He is also survived by one daughter, Angie Robison of Pt. Neches, and one son, Johnny Plagman, (Sandy) of Port Neches. His pride and joy were his two grandchildren, Tyler Robison (Kassandra) of Houston, Texas, and Morgan Plagman of Fannett, Texas. He was always there to cheer them on at their many soccer, TaeKwonDo tournaments, or dance recitals He is also survived by the latest joy of his life, great-grandson, Dennis Plagman. All Dennis had to do was enter the room, and Pop's smile lit up. They shared many hugs, kisses, and high fives that brought them each such joy. Additional survivors include one brother, Gary Plagman, (Dottie), of Port Acres, Texas, brother-in-law, Joe Nicotre (Janie) of Port Neches, Texas, and his nieces and nephews.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mona Plagman.
Johnny's legacy is one of love, patience, and support. He will be remembered for his kindness to others and lessons of how to treat others with respect no matter what.
We would like to thank Natalie, Kayla, and Shawana for their gentle and loving care of him in these last months. It will not be forgotten.
