It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Daryl Leeper, who departed this life on June 14, 2025, in Nederland, Texas. Born on June 30, 1958, in Beaumont, Texas, John was a devoted man whose love for his family and community will be remembered for years to come.
John dedicated 21 years of his life serving as a Corrections Officer with the State of Texas, demonstrating immense commitment and professionalism throughout his esteemed career. Additionally, he contributed his time at Walmart on a part-time basis, embodying a strong work ethic that characterized his life.
A proud veteran of the US Army, John brought the same dedication he exhibited in his military service to all aspects of his life. Known for his generous and kind heart, John frequently extended his help to his in-laws and made it a point to spoil his beloved wife, Helen Lao Leeper, with whom he shared 12 cherished years of marriage. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, taking great pride in his family, which was undoubtedly his greatest accomplishment.
John had a passion for exploration, enjoying annual travels with his wife to various destinations, where they would stay in five-star hotels, creating lasting memories together. He was a private man, yet those who were fortunate enough to know him recognized the depth of his character and the warmth he held within.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Lao Leeper of Nederland; his mother, Barbara Moore Leeper of Vidor; his daughter, Amy Leeper Page; his sons, Ryan Leeper and Spencer Leeper; his grandchildren, Damion Guidry, Daniel Page, Chandler Moore, and Issei Leonidas Leeper; his great-grandchildren, Toni Moore, Carson Moore, Paisley Guidry, and Maverick Guidry; his brother, Ronald Leeper and his wife, Vicki of Princeton, Texas; his sister, Donna Mitchell of Vidor; and his sister, Laurie Acree of Mauriceville. He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Eugene Leeper.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with the funeral service to begin at 5:00 PM, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas.
As we remember John Daryl Leeper, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
