John Percy Hallmark Sr.

May 23, 1947 — March 20, 2026

Beaumont, Texas

John Percy Hallmark, Sr., better known as Percy to all who knew and loved him, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas, with his family by his side.

He was born on May 23, 1947, in the small town of Winfield, Louisiana, to his parents, W. P. and Addie Hallmark. His family later moved to Port Arthur, Texas, when he was ten years old, where he was raised. Percy was known for his kindness and strong work ethic. A dear friend and neighbor recently wrote, “Percy was a man of many talents—give him a hammer, a saw, and an idea, and he could build it for you.” This truly sums him up.

Percy believed deeply in family, faith, hard work, and helping others. There was not a thing he could not do. His grandchildren often said, “Let PaPa do it—he can fix anything.” He was a man of few words, but when he gave advice, you could count on it being meaningful and wise. He wasn’t much for long conversations—his phone calls were short and to the point, often ending with his familiar phrase, “talk at you later.” He was also known for his dry sense of humor—you never quite knew if he was serious or just pulling your leg.

A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 1965, Percy was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, as a reservist, from 1965 to 1971, when he was honorably discharged. He then began his career as a machinist with Texaco, Star Enterprises, and Motiva Enterprises, where he dedicated over 40 years of service before retiring to care for the love of his life, his wife, Linda.

Percy met his beloved wife, Linda, when they were just 14 years old. They married after graduation on July 23, 1965, and built a life together rooted in love and devotion. They raised their two children in Nederland, in the home Percy built with his own hands. A master carpenter, he could build anything he set his mind to. In 2007, he and Linda built their home in LaBelle, Texas—her dream home, lovingly brought to life by Percy. They shared 44 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2010.

Above all, Percy was a devoted father who showed his love through his actions—by providing, teaching, showing up, fixing things, and always listening. The lessons he taught will continue to guide his family for generations. To his grandchildren and great-grandchild, he was their biggest fan. He could always be found at their sporting events and dance recitals, proudly supporting them. He especially loved sharing their photos with his sisters and extended family.

Percy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Hallmark; his grandson, Brett Alan Bordonaro; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Kim Bordonaro and her husband, Scott, of LaBelle; his son, John Hallmark, Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Friendswood; his sisters, Willie Bishop, Sue Tyler, and Vera White; his brother in-law and sister in-law Jesse and Diane Morua; his grandchildren, Blake and Brookelyn Bordonaro, and Will, Connor, Reid, and Abigail Hallmark; great grandson, Jude Bordonaro as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas, situated at 1605 Avenue H, on the afternoon and evening of March 24, 2026. Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service thoughtfully planned to begin at 6:30 p.m., inviting all to join in prayerful remembrance.
