It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry L. Sonnier, who departed this life on November 5, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on October 12, 1931, in Port Arthur, Texas, Jerry lived a life marked by deep faith, love for family, and dedication to his career.
Jerry served as a Maintenance Supervisor for Chevron at the Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown for an impressive 37 years. Known for his quiet demeanor, he nonetheless loved big, bringing warmth and joy to the lives of those around him. He enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with his friends and cherished the Friday night couples games that fostered camaraderie and laughter.
A devoted parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Jerry was a man who truly loved the Lord. His active involvement in the Knights of Columbus in Port Neches and Groves exemplified his commitment to service and community. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Acadian House in Port Neches, where he celebrated his Cajun heritage.
Jerry's talents extended beyond his professional life, as he was a great mechanic who could fix anything. Family and friends were his greatest hobbies, and he found immense joy in spending time with them. Jerry took pride in his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 74 years, Dot Sonnier of Port Neches; daughters Bonnie Burke of Port Neches and Carol Guidry of Corpus Christi; and son Ricky Sonnier and his wife, Rose of Port Neches. Jerry was also a proud grandfather to Melissa Cordray and her husband, Neal, of Houston; Dawn Price and her husband, Danny, of Corpus Christi; Kenny Guidry of Baton Rouge; Elizabeth Sturrock and her husband, Eric, of Baton Rouge; Shally Watts and her husband, Neil, of Bridge City; Jill Badon and her husband, Cody, of Groves; Sarah Zelczak and her wife, Mandi, of Houston; Rebecca Eischens of Houston; and Kristen Eischens of Houston. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Brittany Garrison and her husband, Austin; Kaylea Cordray; Logan Price; Remi Sturrock; Arleigh Watts; Kasen Watts; Lilah Watts; Raeleigh Watts; and his great-great-grandchild, Salem Garrison.
Jerry is welcomed in Heaven by his parents, Numa and LoCadie Sonnier; his daughter, Leslie Eischens; his brother, Wilma Sonnier; his sister, Merlene Wilsford; and sons-in-law, Kenneth Burke and Kenneth Guidry.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the Rosary, which will be held on November 9, 2025, at 5:00 PM, followed by visitation starting at 6:00 PM, both taking place at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A Mass celebrating Jerry's life will take place the following day, November 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, located at 2006 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas.
As we remember Jerry L. Sonnier, we celebrate his life of love, kindness, and the joyful memories he created with family and friends. May he rest in peace.
