Jason Allen Seward, known to so many by his nicknames “Jay,” “Big Sewey,” and “Blue Jay,” entered this world on August 26, 1995, in Port Arthur, Texas, and from that moment on, he brought light, laughter, and love to everyone blessed to know him.
Jason had a way of making people feel at ease—his laid-back spirit, gentle heart, and quick smile were a gift to friends, family, and even strangers. He had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures—spending time with loved ones, catching a game, or enjoying a good laugh. A proud graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School, Class of 2014, Jason continued his education at Lamar State College Port Arthur, earning his Associate’s Degree.
Sports were more than just a pastime for Jason—they were part of his heartbeat. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan through thick and thin, he also found joy in cheering for the Houston Astros and the University of Texas. Whether it was baseball, football, or any big game, Jason loved sharing those moments with others, often sparking spirited conversations, laughter, and a little good-natured trash talk. His passion for baseball was unmatched, and his love for the game mirrored the way he lived his life—with heart, enthusiasm, and joy.
Among Jason’s proudest titles was “Uncle.” When his nephew, Baylor Seward, was born, Jason’s eyes lit up in a way his family will never forget. Being “Uncle Jay” wasn’t just a role to him—it was a blessing he treasured with every fiber of his being.
Jason is survived by his parents, Amber Olbrich Seward and Jason and D’Anna Seward. He leaves behind his brothers, Blake Seward and wife Kayleigh, Cace Dale and wife Callie, and Cameron Dale, along with his grandparents, Bob and Patty Young. And his beloved nephew Baylor Blake Seward. As well as his aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with his grandparents, Marvin and Virginia Olbrich, Gary Seward, and Al and Dorothy Fink.
Those who knew Jason will remember his easy laughter, his kind spirit, and his unwavering love for family and friends. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. His absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but the memories he created—the stories, the shared moments, and the love he gave so freely—will remain with us forever.
Jason’s journey here may have been shorter than we hoped, but the impact of his life will live on through every heart he touched. And though we grieve, we take comfort in knowing that our “Jay,” “Big Sewey,” “Blue Jay” is now at peace, watching over us with that same warm smile we will never forget.
