Port Arthur, Texas

Janice Ann Berry Ramirez, a devoted daughter, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a faithful friend, was born on January 4, 1939, in Port Arthur, Texas. She departed from this world on January 17, 2026, in her hometown, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and warmth that touched the lives of many.

Throughout her life, Janice dedicated herself to various careers that showcased her remarkable talents and her unwavering commitment to her community. She served with great honor as a decorator for Sherwin-Williams, a role that allowed her to express her creativity and passion for aesthetics. Her professional journey also included significant contributions as a secretary at St. Joseph Catholic Church and as an employee of the Port Arthur Police Department, where she played a vital part in supporting public service.

A devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Janice was known for her deep faith and commitment to her family and friends. She cherished the moments shared at home, where her cooking brought joy to those around her. In her leisure time, Janice indulged in her love for painting, particularly enjoying the art of china doll decoration, which demonstrated her creative spirit.

Janice is remembered fondly for her ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home, creating an atmosphere of love and belonging. This trait, coupled with her devotion to family, exemplified the essence of her character. She drew immense pride from her family, constantly nurturing and supporting them.

Janice is survived by her beloved daughter, Catherine M. Burgess of Nederland; her dear granddaughter, Lauren Bergeron of Nederland; and her treasured nieces, Ericca Mendoza and her husband, Andy of Port Arthur, as well as Amy Peters and her husband, Anthony of New Haven, England. She also leaves behind her grandnieces, Olivia Mendoza and her husband, Nathan Griffin, and Audrey Peters, along with her grandnephew, Elliott Peters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mattie Berry; her husband, Raul Ramirez; her sister, Claudia Barras; and her brother-in-law, Reginald Barras. The memories of those who passed before her, combined with the love of those still among us, ensure that Janice's spirit will continue to thrive.
