Jan Hunt

April 14, 1945 — December 24, 2024

Nederland, Texas

Janita Ann Hunt, a beloved member of her family and community, departed this earthly life on December 24, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on April 14, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Janita was a woman of faith, family, and dedication.

For over 35 years, Jan devoted her professional life to the Texas Workforce Commission, where her commitment to helping others shone brightly. Beyond her career, she was known for her incredible kindness and her affectionate nature. Jan was especially proud of her role as a nurturing figure in her family and local community. Among her proudest accomplishments were her tireless efforts in supporting children through various avenues. She worked closely with the PTA, served as a homeroom mother, was a team mom for her son's baseball team, and took up the role of den mother for cub scouts. Additionally, her compassionate heart led her to assist the school counselor with the Special Olympics, fulfilling her passion for uplifting young lives.

Jan's warmth extended far beyond her work; she was deeply devoted to her family. Her husband of 30 years, Carl Hunt, stood by her side in love and partnership. Together, they shared a special bond, creating cherished memories that their family will hold dear forever. Jan is survived by her husband, as well as, her loving children: Michael Glaze and his wife Tammy of Port Neches, Jeff Glaze and his wife Bambi of Port Neches, Tania Keffer and her husband Curtis of Freeport, Florida, and David Hunt and his wife Danielle of Groves. The joy of being a grandmother enriched her life, and she leaves behind grandchildren Kitti Broussard and her husband Allan, Lane Glaze, Michael DeLuna, Payton Glaze, Morgan Raines and her husband Carson, Britni Louviere and her husband Tyler, Xander Glaze, Karli Hunt, and Collin Glaze. Her legacy continues with great-grandchildren Kat Broussard, Felix Broussard, Payton DeLuna, and Thea Janeaux.

Jan was a spirited individual who found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She had a particular fondness for her plants, engaging them each morning with sweet words of care. Her passion for creativity blossomed during the holiday seasons, where she delighted in making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and crafting yard decorations with Carl’s assistance, especially those celebrating the warmth of Christmas.

She was also blessed to have a sister, Kay Reaves Myers of Groves, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Reaves and Flo Moseley Reaves, and her father-in-law, Carl T. Hunt.

A visitation to celebrate Jan's life will be held on December 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Park Central Church of Christ, located at 3901 Jimmy Johnson Boulevard, Port Arthur, Texas, 77642.
