Helen "Dianne" Sims

Helen “Dianne” Sims, 70, of Taylor Landing, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at her residence in Taylor Landing with her loving family at her side.

Dianne was born on May 29, 1953, in Chillicothe, Ohio. Her birth name was Ann Johnson. At six weeks of age Dianne was adopted from an orphanage in Chillicothe by Fern Remmertt Lambert and Howard Lambert. She graduated from Westerville South High School in 1971 and was a retired painter for Lamar University in Beaumont. As loyal members of the P.A. Yacht Club, Dianne and her late husband David enjoyed sailing their catamaran at McFadden and Miracle Beaches. They also enjoyed spending time on “Lady Di”, their sailboat that David named after his nickname for his wife “Di”. Dianne also loved fishing, working in her garden and adored her furbabies, Prince and Princess. Everyone who knew Dianne knows she enjoyed caring for her plants “green babies”. Dianne loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Survivors include her children, Karen Holstine and her husband Ted of Orange, Shawn Bailey and his wife Becki of Columbus, Ohio and Michelle Barringer and her husband Preston of Carroll, Ohio; twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her close friend of 15+ years and then her companion after both found themselves widowed, Terry Bates of Port Arthur, Texas.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Fern Lambert; niece, Lacie Davis and the love of her life, her husband of thirteen years, David Weston Sims.

Private Family cremation services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.

The Sims family would like to thank Harbor Hospice and her nurse Cathy for all the love compassion and excellent care as they helped mom and her family through this difficult time.
