Glenn Joseph Decuir, a devoted family man, respected businessman, and patriot, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, in Winnie, Texas. Born on August 11, 1937, in Beaumont, Texas, Glenn lived a full and purposeful life, leaving an indelible mark on his community and loved ones.
Glenn was the proud owner of Nederland Glass, a business he managed with dedication and integrity, embodying the spirit of self-reliance and entrepreneurship. His commitment to excellence was evident in every aspect of his career, earning him not only success but also the respect and admiration of his peers.
A man of unwavering faith, Glenn was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, finding strength and solace in his beliefs throughout his life. His service to country as a member of the United States Navy further underscored his commitment to duty and honor.
Beyond his professional and spiritual endeavors, Glenn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished his time spent golfing, a pastime that brought him many happy memories and friendships. He also had 6 hole in one shots. His fascination with old cars spoke to his appreciation for craftsmanship and history, reflecting a character that valued tradition and enduring quality. He was honored to be invited to Grand Finale in Detroit, Michigan with his '33 Ford - "Blue Angel". He loved to go to the casino and was an avid player of Texas Hold' em, winning many tournaments including his biggest accomplishment, winning 7 Clans Poker Cup Series Texas Hold' em Tournament at Coushatta Casino.
Glenn was very civic minded and was a member of the Nederland Chamber of Commerce, where he also served as President. He was also a member and president of the Nederland Rotary Club and a member of the Lamar University Cardinals Club. His affiliation with the Knights of Columbus and the Rotary Club lasted for 29 years, in which he had perfect attendance in both organizations and was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Champagne Decuir of Winnie, whose steadfast companionship was a source of great comfort and happiness. Their daughter, Belinda Decuir Turney of Winnie, carries forward the family legacy, alongside her daughter, Lindsey Matkin, and her husband, Cade of Winnie. Glenn's legacy also lives on in his treasured great-grandchildren, Bryant Matkin and Bailee Matkin of Winnie, who brought light and laughter to his later years. He is also survived by his brother, Merlin Decuir of The Villages, Florida, who shared in the bonds of family and lifelong memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Elizabeth Decuir; his brothers, Wilton Decuir and Artie Paul Decuir; and his sisters, Cecile Eatherly and Orelia "Ree Ree" Robbins. Their memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew Glenn.
Glenn will be honored with a visitation on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. to be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas 77665 followed by a Mass to be held at 4:00 p.m. at the same location. A gathering of family and friends will follow the Mass at The Knights of Columbus Hall (blue metal building with red trim), St. Martin's Road, Winnie, Texas 77665.
Glenn Joseph Decuir’s passing marks the close of a chapter filled with dedication, love, and unwavering principles. His life stands as a testament to hard work, faithfulness, and the bonds of family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him and remains forever in their hearts.
